Hey, I'm Sævar

MSc Electrical Engineering student at DTU, focusing on power systems and substation digitalisation. Currently working part-time at Rambøll in Denmark, supporting electrical and automation projects for pharmaceutical facilities.

Before academia, I spent 6 years working as an electrician: residential, commercial, and small industrial installations. I hold a Master Electrician certificate from Iceland, which means I bring hands-on field experience alongside engineering theory. I like to think that's a useful combination.

Outside of work: kickboxing, gym, and gaming.

My work

MSc thesis IEC 61850
Danish TSO substation

Brownfield Substation Digitalisation

MSc thesis at DTU, investigating the migration of a conventional hardwired protection system to IEC 61850 process bus architecture, based on a real Danish TSO substation case. Covering feasibility, timing constraints, and reliability.

BSc thesis PowerFactory · MATLAB
2MW diesel generator

2 MW Diesel Generator Speed Control

BSc final project at Reykjavik University. Comparing Ziegler-Nichols and DEIF's empirical method for tuning a speed control unit on a 2 MW diesel generator. Included on-site testing at the power station in Patreksfjörður, Iceland.
